It is so very true that stress does reduce the immunity and thus makes a person more prone to even the simplest disease.. as simple as common cold. Nice article thank you.

Our levels of stress could not be higher: Wall Street is in turmoil. Many of us might lose our homes, our savings, our jobs.

I wish the bail-out negotiations would lead to health care for all. But one thing is sure: We have to handle our given health in a more responsible and CHEAPER way.

Nothing is more inexpensive than prevention: Cold showers, regular movement, fresh foods, healthy herbs and following the natural order: enough sleep, forgiving and tolerant relationships, sleeping with the window open, laughing and dancing often.

I tell my clients this all the time. I often get teased for my sunshine and rainbows outlook but happy thoughts go a long way for our physical health. We must also keep in mind, when it comes to stress that often we experience a stress or fight and flight reaction to mental and emotional stress. This also causes the stress hormone cascade but as we are releasing these hormones in reaction to a life or death situation, the levels stay elevated without any physical means of releasing them. Another thing to keep in mind is that the more we retell the story of a stressful experience, the more stress hormones are released. Another good reason to put on a smile and move on into the present moment.

Also- the healthy cookie is no more. You can find me at www.meghantelpner.blogspot.com. Be well.
